Adding a monthly revenue figure to your listing

Revenue you report yourself, for one calendar month, in US dollars - labelled as such wherever it shows.

Updated

Why add revenue

A listing can carry one revenue number: what the company took in during one calendar month, in US dollars. Because we do not check the figure, it carries the label self-reported. Owners report the figure themselves, as can listing managers. Nobody has to add one.

Entering the figure

Go to /account/revenue after signing in. Type the amount, choose which month it is, and report it - the proof link field can stay empty.

Display

The figure always appears with three things: self-reported, the month, and the reporting date. One company, one figure - the same on each site where the company has a listing. Your listing and the revenue leaderboard both show the figure.

Limits

Choose a month that has started: this month or one in the past two years. Proof links must be public pages on https. Zero is not a figure - to take a number down, use Remove. The proof link is for our staff only.

Leaderboard

Two kinds of figures, two tables: that is how /leaderboards/revenue keeps self-reported and verified revenue apart. A revenue figure does not change votes or any other board.

Later changes

The figure can be updated or removed at any time. The listing's history keeps every version.

Verified revenue

If you would rather show a number we have checked, open /account/revenue/verified while signed in. The owner of the listing and its managers can use it. For Stripe and Paddle you paste a key that can only read, and we total each finished month for you. For PayPal, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad or any other provider, you upload that month's statement as a PDF, a CSV export or a screenshot of up to 10 MB, and a person on our team checks it.

Connecting is automatic when the account clearly belongs to your listing: we compare the Stripe display name or statement descriptor, or the Paddle checkout domain, with your company. Anything that does not match is checked by our team first, and you are told what they decided.

Every verified source counts toward one total for the last finished month. That total, labelled verified and dated, is what your listing shows (in place of any self-reported figure) and what the verified table at /leaderboards/revenue ranks. The figure is always in US dollars. A month in another currency is converted at the ECB's official monthly average and marked with the currency it was converted from.

A saved key is encrypted and cannot be viewed again (only its last four characters are shown). We read connected accounts again about once a day. A source can be disconnected or removed at /account/revenue/verified at any time, which stops its figure showing; also delete the key at Stripe or Paddle.

Questions people ask

Who sees the proof link?
Only our staff. It is not on any public page.
Does revenue affect votes?
No. It is a separate system with its own label.
How far back can I go?
Up to two years back.
Is there a way to show a checked figure?
Yes: verified revenue. Set it up at /account/revenue/verified with a read-only Stripe or Paddle key, or with a statement our team checks.
