How does the Product review work?
The paid Product review is a commissioned long-form write-up of your product, published on its own page and kept separate from community votes and rankings.

What you get
When you pay $19, we write a Product review of your offering. This appears at /launch/<listing>/product-review, with its own dedicated page on Alternative Biz. You cannot change it once it goes live.
How we write it
We read your public website—your homepage, about page, pricing, features, FAQ and documentation (where these exist)—along with your listing. We write from what your pages actually say, not from assumptions. If your site doesn't explain something a buyer needs to know, we note that plainly. The review covers both strengths and limitations; it is honest, not promotional.
The finished piece includes key takeaways, multiple sections, pros and cons, who it suits best, a check of what your pages state on six areas (what it does, who it serves, pricing, onboarding, trust and security, company and contact details), common questions a buyer might ask, a verdict and a list of sources.
There is no star rating.
Where it shows up
Your listing page displays a short excerpt in its own section, marked clearly as paid content, with a route to the complete review. The listing's reviews page shows the summary and key takeaways. This is always shown apart from community reviews written by other founders.
What it does not do
The Product review does not affect votes, ratings or rankings. It adds no votes and does not move any leaderboard. All rankings on this site come from community votes (and, on the billboard, from money contributed), never from reviews.
If your website is unavailable
If your site is down or blocks visitors, we retry several times. If we cannot access it, the review is held for our team to assess. If they write it using only your listing, the review states this clearly.
How to order
Pick it as an extra on the plan step when you choose a paid launch. For a listing you already have, sign in, open /account/listings, choose 'Upgrades and extras' beside it and press 'Order the Product review'. The current price is on /pricing.
Every Product review published on Alternative Biz is also listed on one page, /reviews ("Product reviews" in the footer once there is one).
Questions people ask
- When is the Product review published?
- It goes live as soon as it is ready, after you have paid. If your website cannot be accessed, it may be held pending our team's review.
- Can I edit the Product review after it is published?
- No. You cannot change it once it appears. It is written from your public website and your listing, and you cannot change it.
- Does the Product review change my ranking?
- No. It does not count towards votes, ratings or rankings. Only community votes (and contributed money on the billboard) move rankings on Alternative Biz.
